Providing a great client experience is important to everyone at Secondsight. No matter what department, job role or experience, we believe that to achieve good customer satisfaction it starts with our employees.

Each month we are talking to a different member of our team to ask what good client experience means to them, what they like about working at Secondsight and a bit about themselves. This month, we spoke to Neal Shepherd who is a Senior Partner at Secondsight.

Hi Neal, great to talk to you, can you tell us about your job role?

My role at Secondsight is focused on helping my clients fulfill their objectives and building strong and trusted relationships.  The role is varied, and no two days are the same.  For example, it can vary from consulting and implementing new employee benefits for a company, to assisting with the design and rollout of financial education and health and wellbeing strategies.

What is your favourite thing about working at Secondsight?

The people!

I work with a great bunch of people who go out of their way to support, encourage, and share their knowledge and experiences with me.  Knowing there is always someone to talk to is brilliant and has been particularly helpful this year with us all working from home.

What would you say is the most exciting part of your job?

I love meeting and talking to new people.  Working with existing clients and building relationships with new clients is enormously rewarding and highly motivational.

Can you tell us what a good client experience means to you?

Having delighted clients – knowing with confidence that a client can rely on me and the Secondsight team to listen, consult, advise, help and deliver the service they need to support their own objectives and the day to day running of their businesses.

It’s clear you really enjoy working at Secondsight. Can you tell us a bit about what you like to do in your spare time?

My favourite pastime is playing golf, I just wish I was better at it!  To keep active, I run 5K four or five times a week and during lockdown I’ve started to learn a new skill, playing the drums.  This is much harder than I first thought but I am improving, slowly!

List something you’re particularly proud of?

Top of this list is my family, they are amazing, and I am very proud of each and every one of them.  This year, however, I am particularly proud of breaking a long-standing personal goal of running 5K in under 25 minutes.  I have tried to beat this many times at our local Park Run but it always eluded me.  As a result of lockdown providing the opportunity to run more frequently, I have achieved a new personal best time of 22:47.

Thanks Neal!
